On March 20, 2026, SAC Health hosted U.S. Rep. Pete Aguilar (CA-33) at the Brier Campus location in San Bernardino to mark the 16th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). With the SAC Health Mobile Clinic serving as the backdrop for the press conference, the event highlighted the critical role the ACA plays in providing health security and lowering costs for Inland Empire families.

Rep. Aguilar spoke on the importance of protecting tax credits to keep this care affordable:

"We're here to highlight the incredible impact that this transformative piece of legislation has meant for our communities across this country including covering 31,000 people here in the Inland Empire."

Dr. Michael Robinson, ACMO at SAC Health, emphasized the necessity of this coverage:

"The anniversary of the ACA is a reminder of how many of our community continue to need the compassionate care that SAC Health provides. We are grateful for the ongoing support of the ACA as it is essential for the health of our community; it ensures that preventive care remains accessible and that chronic diseases are managed before they become emergencies. It allows us all to work together to care for our fellow human beings. This means that we can continue to focus on high quality patient care every single day here at SAC Health."

The real-world impact of the ACA was shared by Luis Hernandez, a SAC Health patient, who described relying on the healthcare safety net when he was unemployed and his son was ill.

"I cannot imagine what I would have done without a safety net that actually worked when we needed it most," Hernandez said. "Today, my son is healthy because we had resources that afforded us the ability to find a doctor and hospital that could help us."
