SAN BERNARDINO, CA — August 11 — SAC Health, a health center that serves Medi-Cal and Medicare patients, received a generous gift from local philanthropist, Ken Ramirez, to support the construction of the Ken and Sean Ramirez Family Chapel at the SAC Health Brier Campus.

The gift creates a dedicated space for patients, families, and staff of all faiths and backgrounds, to reflect and find comfort when faced with health or other challenges.

Located on the 3rd floor of the SAC Health Brier Campus, the Ken and Sean Ramirez Family Chapel is now open to patients, staff and visitors and is managed by the Spiritual Care department. SAC Health welcomed its first patients to the newly renovated Brier clinic on June 26, 2025, and will continue to phase in other services in the next several months.

Ken Ramirez is currently an active member of the SAC Health Board and is chairman emeritus of the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation. “Spiritual Care is at the heart of SAC Health’s mission and is a significant part of my personal faith journey, so giving specifically to building out the chapel at the new Brier Campus was the perfect match,” said Mr. Ramirez. “I believe in SAC Health’s calling to serve with faithful and compassionate care, and this chapel will be a place of hope and reflection for those who need it most.”

With the need to expand access to quality health care to an ever-growing region, opening the clinic became a focus for SAC Health. It first began the Brier Campus project in 2023 and later launched the campaign, “The Call to Care”, in pursuit of support to manage the cost to complete the construction.

“Mr. Ramirez’s gift was one of the first major donations to the SAC Health Brier project,” says Mindy Silva, executive director of philanthropy at SAC Health. “His generosity helped us to create a space that not only restores the spirit but also allows us to provide whole-person care.”

Spiritual care support at SAC Health is available to all patients at no cost. The department serves all backgrounds of faith and provides non-denominational services, while also ministering to patients without religious affiliations.
